Innovative 3D printer for high-res models launches with massive discount

Launched by MagPro, the new Yidimu resin 3D printer is built for producing extremely detailed models, though it is better suited to smaller objects compared with conventional filament 3D printers. Resin printers are typically used for creating small items, such as figurines. According to official specs, the Yidimu offers an XY precision of 16.8 × 24.8 µm. The LCD screen used for masking measures 10.1 inches diagonally and has a resolution of 13,320 × 5,120. Because the printer’s UV light source emits a wavelength of 405 nm, users must choose resins capable of curing at this specific wavelength. The maximum print speed is rated at 6 cm/h, meaning a model can grow by this amount in an hour. The build volume measures 223 × 126 × 290 mm, and the layer thickness can be configured to between 0.02 and 0.1 mm.
Weighing 29 kg (63.9 lb) and rated at 190 watts, the Yidimu features a special system for tool-free release of finished models, eliminating the need to use a metal scraper to remove printed objects. The built-in touchscreen helps streamline navigation, allowing users to easily perform tasks such as mask calibration for the LCD screen. MagPro is currently offering more than 50% off the Yidimu as part of a Kickstarter campaign, though the starting price of $3,499 is understandably far from affordable. It’s also worth noting that crowdfunding campaigns typically carry financial risks for backers, and the product’s high price tag may warrant extra caution. The Yidimu is expected to start shipping in August.
