Bambu Lab's new 3D printer brings dual nozzles and multistage filtration

Bambu Lab – a company we’ve covered several times on this website – recently launched the Bambu Lab X2D. The new 3D printer is currently listed at $649 (€629), and it is also available in an $899 (€849) combo with the AMS module, capable of accommodating up to four filament spools. Despite having just one printhead, the device is equipped with a dual-nozzle system that significantly streamlines the process of printing with multiple filament types or colors. The auxiliary nozzle can fully take over the task of building supports, which can greatly simplify their removal.
The Bambu Lab X2D is an enclosed 3D printer with two air intakes. It uses a multistage filtration system featuring a HEPA filter and an activated carbon layer to remove potentially odorous or harmful substances from the exhaust air. The overall build volume measures 256 × 256 × 260 mm (10.08 × 10.08 × 10.24 in), though not every area is accessible when the main and auxiliary nozzles are used in tandem. This limitation is probably relevant only in rare cases, for example when producing models that occupy almost the entire build volume. The printer unit itself measures 392 × 406 × 478 mm (15.43 × 15.98 × 18.82 in).
According to Bambu Lab, the nozzles can reach up to 300°C (572°F), the chamber up to 65°C (149°F), and the heatbed up to 120°C (248°F). The X2D supports a wide variety of filaments: besides the typical PLA and PETG, it can also work with ABS and carbon-reinforced materials. Other notable features include two cameras and a touchscreen to simplify operation.
