Huawei rolls out global HarmonyOS 5.1 smartwatch update with new HRV feature

The Huawei Watch D2 HarmonyOS 5.1 update is now rolling out to users globally. This release was reported in China earlier in July 2025; here, it is known as software version 5.1.0.16 (C00M05).

Now, users in Europe have reported receiving a similar update, software version 5.1.0.18(SP2C00M05). As with the earlier release, the change log states that there is a new Hex Grid layout (referred to as Star Ring in China). This option joins the existing Grid and List layouts. This release also brings three new watch faces to the wearable: Tranquil Landscape, Maximum Modules, Color cut-out, Speedway Chronograph and Galactic.

On top of this, users gain a new average sleep HRV monitoring tool. This enables you to track your quality of sleep and recovery from stress and tiredness. Combined with heart rate, respiratory rate and SpO2 measurements, users will receive sleep related alerts when the watch detects a large difference compared to their baseline metrics.

Software version 5.1.0.16 (C00M05) has been reported by European users of the Huawei Watch D2 (curr. €364.85At Amazon Germany). This is a phased global rollout, though the company has not announced when all users can expect to receive HarmonyOS 5.1. Users will be able to trigger the installation process through the Huawei Health app.
