Garmin has released system software 6.18 for the Approach S44 and Approach S50 smartwatches. This latest stable release for these golf wearables arrives a few weeks after the previous update, version 6.17, which fixed a potential crash issue and resolved a problem with the hole scoring screen.
System software 6.18 also brings a pair of bug fixes to the Approach S44 and Approach S50. Firstly, a problem where the automatic shot detection feature was not working has been resolved. This issue was reported by multiple users on the Garmin forum. According to a representative for the company, the problem would occur if the smartwatch remained switched on for several days.
Secondly, the release tackles a bug where PlaysLike distances were shown unexpectedly. This is a Garmin Golf subscription feature that shows users the distance to the green while accounting for elevation, wind and air density.
The system software 6.18 update is now available for all users of the Garmin Approach S44 and S50 golf smartwatches (curr. $399.99 at Amazon). To trigger the installation process, users should go to the Garmin Golf smartphone app or Garmin Express.
