Samsung has launched the refreshed Galaxy Watch Ultra at the second 2025 Unpacked event. This brand-new variant of the smartwatch shipped with One UI 8 Watch, and now, the Wear OS 6-based update is available to the 2024 version, which brings a handful of new features.
Among them is the Antioxidant Index, a new health tracking feature introduced with the Galaxy Watch 8 series and the 2025 Watch Ultra (pre-order on Amazon and get a free $100 gift card). As Samsung explains, this feature utilizes the BioActive sensor of the smartwatch to measure carotenoids, and this metric can eventually help users to stick to a healthier diet.
The Antioxidant Index isn't the only new feature introduced with One UI 8 Watch update. Last year's Galaxy Watch Ultra also received other new health-focused features, including Vascular Load and Running Coach.
In addition, Samsung notes that the latest Wear OS 6 update for Galaxy smartwatches offers an optimized user interface. This UI change is geared to help users get all the essential information at a glance. Then there's Now Bar, which is designed to enhance accessibility. Per the users who have received the update, One UI 8 Watch for 2024 Galaxy Watch Ultra also has the May 2025 security update.
As for the Galaxy Watch 7 series, Samsung has already started beta testing the Wear OS 6-based update for last year's models in late June 2025. Given that the 2024 Watch Ultra has just received the stable update, the other supported smartwatches are also expected to get One UI 8 Watch soon.
