The Garmin Descent Mk3 and Descent Mk3i dive computers are receiving a new update: system software 22.07. This stable release follows version 19.50, which arrived several months ago to address issues linked to potential crashes and dive battery estimates.
The release notes for software version 22.07 state that these Descent wearables gain several features which have also recently reached the Epix Gen 2 smartwatch. These include the sleep Breathing Variations tool, Connect IQ System 8 and improvements for sensor pairing. Plus, the inductive button has been optimized with the aim of preventing false inputs in cold water, and there are bug fixes for issues with Dive Shortcuts and the heart rate broadcast feature.
Several new tools and improvements are only for the Descent Mk3i dive computers (curr. $1,399.99 at Amazon). Firstly, this model gains support for the recently released S1 SubWave Buoy. These users can also choose whether to opt in or out of Messaging and Location Sharing when pairing such a device. Also only for the Mk3i are solutions for problems linked to Diver Assistance messages, Dive Time SubWave messages and low transmitter battery alerts.
In a post on the brand’s forum, the Garmin team has confirmed that the system software 22.07 update is now available for all users of the Descent Mk3 and Descent Mk3i dive computers. It should be pushed automatically to eligible devices, but can also be manually installed via Garmin Connect or Garmin Express.
