Following the recent showcase of the RTX 5090 GPU furnished with 5 kilograms of real gold, Asus is now taking pre-orders in China for the ROG Astral RTX 5080 Hatsune Miku Edition, a limited-edition graphics card made for fans of the Japanese virtual pop icon. Borrowing its design from Asus’s premium ROG Astral model, it features custom cooling shrouds, RGB lighting accents, and themed accessories that match other hardware in the broader PC ecosystem.
Unveiled at BilibiliWorld 2025 in China, the GPU is among several products designed in collaboration with Hatsune Miku branding, including co-branded motherboards, displays, and peripherals. Promotion on Asus ROG’s global social media channels indicates the card could see broader international distribution in the future.
Asus's RTX 5080 Miku Edition is priced at 16,999 RMB (~US$2,370) in China, over double Nvidia's local MSRP of 8,299 RMB (~US$1,150). This aligns with the trend of Asus ROG Astral models, with international listings selling stock RTX 5080 Astral cards for $1,750-$1,800, which is well above Nvidia’s recommended retail price of $999.
Regardless of the price, the special edition has received positive early feedback, particularly regarding aesthetics and collector appeal. Asus has not revealed production figures, but the Hatsune Miku model is likely to be available in limited quantities.
In this regard, the elevated pricing also reflects the ongoing hardware constraints in China. Due to U.S. export regulations, the RTX 5090 and 5090D are currently unavailable in the Chinese market, making the RTX 5080 the highest-end model accessible to local consumers.
Whether the additional expense is warranted will depend on demand and collector interest. Global pricing and availability of the Hatsune Miku special edition have not yet been confirmed.
