Noted leaker Kepler_L2 has shed some light on AMD's upcoming RDNA 5/UDNA GPUs. Specs-wise, the flagship model will be identical to the Radeon RX 7900 XTX, with lower-end SKUs mirroring the 9070 XT and 9060 XT.

While AMD's RDNA 4 GPUs offer decent value compared to their Nvidia counterparts, Team Green still reigns supreme in terms of raw firepower. Even though AMD has some 'more powerful' RDNA 4 SKUs lined up for release, they're unlikely to keep up with Nvidia's RTX 50 Super refresh. That leaves us with AMD's next architecture, RDNA 5 (or UDNA, depending on who you ask). Well-known leaker Kepler_L2 has now given us some insight into it.

Apparently, RDNA 5/UDNA won't offer much in the way of CU increase. Its top-spec model (Navi 51) will come with a 96 CU GPU, with an unspecified amount of VRAM on a 384-bit bus. The next model will have 64 CUs on a 256-bit bus, and the third one will cut it down to 32 CUs and 128-bit, respectively. Performance-wise, the top-spec RDNA 5/UDNA GPU will perform somewhere between an RTX 4090 and RTX 5080. Kepler didn't mention if this was for rasterisation or raytracing, but it's probably the former.

If AMD transitions to 3 GB GDDR7 modules like Nvidia, we could end up with 32 GB VRAM on the flagship RDNA 5 GPU. Before that, we could see the coveted Radeon RX 9070 XTX with the same amount of video memory, although discourse around that SKU has largely died down after AMD's Frank Azor vehemently denied its existence.

Overall, this looks very similar to the RDNA 3 lineup, but this time, AMD plans to use a monolithic GPU die. The now-cancelled Navi 4c dies showed some promise, but they all use an MCM design, which AMD has abandoned for the immediate future. Either way, RDNA 5/UDNA is slated to be AMD's 'Zen' moment, and Team Red would prefer not to overcomplicate it with complex GPU designs.
