Garmin has released system software 28.00 for several wearables. This stable update brings support for a recently launched accessory. It is also said to add support for the YouTube Music app to the Descent Mk2, Descent Mk2S and Descent Mk2i dive computers, though users have already flagged an issue here.

The Garmin Descent Mk2, Descent Mk2S and Descent Mk2i dive computers are receiving a new stable update. System software 28.00 is the first release for these wearables in 2025. It follows the version 26.30 update, which swapped the time-in-zones bar chart for a new heart rate chart on the post-dive summary page

According to the software 28.00 change log, this release brings support for the new S1 SubWave Buoy (curr. $2,499.99 at Amazon). Launched earlier in July, this accessory enables divers to be tracked by topside crew members. These dive computers are also said to gain support for YouTube Music in this update. However, users point out that the developers of this app have yet to make the Descent D2 a compatible device.

This stable version 28.00 release also resolved several issues. Bugs linked to Dive Time SubWave messages and the Kill Switch function have been fixed. Garmin has also tackled an issue where surface interval time was not shown as expected on some watch faces. Plus, a Garmin Pay bug, which caused the wallet to be locked sooner than expected, has been sorted out.

System software 28.00 is now available for all users of the Descent Mk2, Descent Mk2S and Descent Mk2i watch-style dive computers. It can be downloaded via the Garmin Connect app or Garmin Express.
