Gamers know that the Hollow Knight: Silksong release date will arrive before Christmas 2025. However, Team Cherry has yet to confirm a more precise arrival time, frustrating many fans. Even without more definitive news, the Metroidvania title will be part of August and September events. Microsoft announced that Xbox will host a demo of the game during Gamescom, which takes place from August 20-24.
When Microsoft revealed the Asus ROG Xbox Ally series at the June Xbox Games Showcase, Hollow Knight: Silksong played a prominent role. The company claimed the anticipated sequel would be playable when the handheld gaming PCs ship. Unfortunately, Team Cherry then clarified that the Silksong release date didn't depend on the launch of the systems.
The ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X will debut during the Holiday 2025 season. Meanwhile, the game's developer promises that Silksong will finally surface by Christmas Day. That suggests that Microsoft's release window for both could still become a reality.
According to the new Xbox Wire update, attendees can find more than 120 gaming stations at Gamescom 2025. Silksong will be a major attraction, with the first chance for gamers to experience the title. The ROG Xbox Ally will run the demo, but Microsoft lists a PC as an alternative. Silksong should also release on Switch and Switch 2 consoles, joining the Xbox and PlayStation.
The August spectacle in Cologne, Germany, won't be the only event that features the game. In May, Silksong news broke about an exhibit focused on the title in Australia. From September 18 to February 8, 2026, the ACMI museum in Melbourne will pay tribute to indie developers. Like during Gamescom, visitors will have access to a playable Silksong demo.
