Also spiced up with community-made mods such as Old World Blues, set in the Fallout universe, or The New Order: Last Days of Europe, an alternative history approach where the Axis wins World War II, Paradox Interactive's Hearts of Iron IV also received yearly DLCs from its makers. The last country pack was 2020's Battle for the Bosporus, which focused on the Balkan countries. Announced today, Trial of Allegiance will launch on March 7 with focus trees for South American countries, namely Argentina, Brazil, and Chile.
According to Paradox Interactive Community Manager, Katten, the aforementioned country pack is the first effort by the new content creation team that was born in 2023. In addition to the three South American countries named earlier, Hearts of Iron IV: Trial of Allegiance "introduces additional content for both old and new tags in South America" and can be pre-ordered for $14.99.
The pre-order bonus is a song, but the DLC as a whole comes with an additional six new songs, two for each major nation in it. Voiceovers in Brazilian Portuguese, Argentinian Spanish and Chilean Spanish have been added as well. Lastly, there are new 3D unit sprites for the Brazilian army alongside 2D art for National Focus trees and units.
Hearts of Iron IV became the fastest-selling history-related Paradox Interactive title in two weeks after launch. By the end of May 2018, it also became the first Hearts of Iron title to hit the 1,000,000 units sold threshold.
