Time to say goodbye to another huge chunk of your life as the first expansion pack for Civilization VI is released. Civilization VI: Rise and Fall offers enough new and interesting content to satisfy even the most discerning members of the game's legion of fans.

Steam announced today that the first official expansion pack for Civilization VI is now available for purchase. The expansion is called Civilization VI: Rise and Fall and will no doubt be a must-have addition for Civ’s millions of hardcore fans around the world. The new DLC offers a plethora of new features to entice Civ fanatics to part with their hard-earned cash.

Players of Civilization will be aware of Golden Ages, those wonderful times when an empire flourishes and coffers are filled with coins. However, it is now possible to suffer from Dark Ages, too. These are grim times when players will have to face increasing levels of disloyalty among their empire's populace. Loyalty features heavily in the new expansion: You can lose your cities due to disloyal citizens or embrace new cities into your empire by inspiring their loyalty.

New leaders, additional worldwide content, new global eras and enhanced alliance capabilities should add significantly to Civilization VI’s gameplay. With this first expansion package you can select from seven different governors to assist with running your empire and there are eight new civilizations to choose from, including Scottish, Mapuche and Cree. Steam is currently offering the DLC for $29.99/29.99 Euros/£24.99.

The Civilization series has proved to be immensely successful, with 40 million units shipped worldwide. The first game in the series was created in 1991 by Sid Meier and Bruce Shelley.
