Yesterday, Paradox published the release notes for Graveyard of Empires, the country pack add-on for Hearts of Iron IV (currently $39.99 on Amazon) that has been unleashed today, as previously announced. The main changes focus on Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the British Raj, alongside eight new music tracks. The four nations mentioned here get focus trees, 3D models, as well as voiceovers.
In addition to the above, Hearts of Iron IV: Graveyard of Empires also touches the following areas:
- Gameplay:
Jordan, Kuwait, Mandatory Palestine, and British Burma now starting as British subjects.
Lebanon and Syria are French subjects from the start.
New tactics and modifier for city combat.
Burma namelist and oob.
Prince Henry no longer an option as Palestine leader. - Balance:
Siam now in the historical Co-Prosperity sphere.
Phuket gets a port, while Hat Yai gets a supply hub.
Archangelsk gets a railway line.
AI now produces more units and streamlines production in Siam.
Siam also gets more building slots. - UI: Reliability and Torpedo upgrades no longer overlap for Torpedo Cruisers.
- Performance:
AI is now more efficient at upgrading equipment.
Multiple AI optimizations, including diplomacy, reinforcements, and naval invasions.
Better Naval Supremacy parallelization.
Several refactored decision systems, leading to overall performance improvements.
In addition to the above, there are also quite a few bug fixes present. Support units are now also taken into account by has_artillery_ratio, has_cavalry_ratio, and has_unit_type triggers when modding.
On Steam, Hearts of Iron IV: Graveyard of Empires is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. In all cases, the system requirements are reasonable, with a minimum of 4 GB of memory and 2 GB of free disk space. However, this storage requirement implies that the base game is already installed. Quite old quad-core processors (Intel Core i5-750 or similar) and 1 GB of video memory (at least AMD HD 5850 or equivalent) are also enough to get the game up and running.
