The RG566 is Anbernic's next gaming handheld. Previously seen in various leaks, the Anbernic RG566 is expected to be about as powerful as the Retroid Pocket 4 but with a larger display and a more ergonomic housing.

Anbernic has officially confirmed the existence of the RG556, a forthcoming gaming handheld that is also larger than many that the company has released so far. For context, various device details surfaced earlier this month through Geekbench and Chinese social media. Now, Anbernic has posted a first look at the RG556 on its YouTube channel, which we have embedded below.

So far, Anbernic has shown the RG566 in black and translucent blue finishes. However, leaks have revealed that a white option may be in development too, albeit perhaps with a glossier texture than its blue and black counterparts. Additionally, the same video showcases the device's ability to emulate popular PlayStation 2 games like God of War II, Half Life and the Devil May Cry series.

Unfortunately, Anbernic has not shared configuration settings for any of the games, nor is it clear in what quality Android games like Genshin Impact are running. Nonetheless, Geekbench highlighted that Anbernic has chosen a Unisoc T820 chipset with a Mali-G57 MP4 GPU, which should make the RG566 competitive with the Pocket 4 that Retroid launched last month. Other RG566 details remain unconfirmed for now, although we imagine that Anbernic will share many device specifications in the coming days.
