John Wick's back again in upcoming turn-based strategy game John Wick Hex
If you ever watched one of the two (soon to be three) John Wick movies and thought “it’s like a game of chess” when the titular character is busy maneuvering his way through the destruction of hordes of assailants, then John Wick Hex will be the perfect game for you. An announcement trailer for the title shows the dog-avenging assassin weaving through a maze of obstacles while the player selects the best method to take down his opponents, which hopefully will include a pencil option.
The game is being created by British developer Mike Bithell, who was behind titles such as Volume and Thomas Was Alone. Actors from the John Wick movies have lent their voices to the project, so gamers can expect much-needed advice from Charon (Lance Reddick) and a word of warning from Winston (Ian McShane). It’s not known if John Wick Hex will be graced with Keanu Reeves’ vocal participation, though.
Players will have to carefully choose which option to use when confronted with an enemy. The trailer describes choices such as strike, push, takedown, parry, shoot, and throw gun; it even looks like a well-placed kick to the groin is available for the hitman to utilize. It’s not just an out and out run-and-blast game, it will take careful planning and plenty of timely execution to get John Wick safely back home. No release date has been given, but John Wick Hex will be made available on PC and Mac via the Epic Store.
