CES 2024 | HP Omen Transcend 14 stakes claim to title of world's lightest 14-inch gaming laptop with up to Core Ultra 9 185H, RTX 4070, and Wi-Fi 7

A few weeks ago, we reported on early information about the HP Omen Transcend 14 as purportedly the world's lightest 14-inch gaming laptop at just 1.637 kg. Today, at CES 2024, the Omen Transcend 14 is finally official.

HP says that the Omen Transcend 14 is not only the lightest but also the world's coolest 14-inch gaming laptop. The Transcend 14 features an IMAX-enhanced 2.8K 120 Hz OLED panel that supports variable refresh rate, similar to what we've seen in the HP Pavilion Plus 14. The display is rated at 400 nits for SDR and at 500 nits for HDR content. It is certified for VESA True Black HDR 400 and is slated to cover 100% of the DCI-P3 color space.

HP offers a choice between the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H and the Core Ultra 9 185H Meteor Lake processors. GPU options include the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050, RTX 4060, and RTX 4070 Laptop GPUs. Buyers can configure the Omen Transcend 14 with up to 32 GB of LPDDR5x-7467 RAM and up to a 2 TB PCIe Gen4 SSD. 

The Omen Transcend 14 uses a vapor chamber co-engineered with Intel's dual-channel flow technology. The company claims that the new thermal solution can achieve 4x higher static pressure, allowing for 80 W of sustained performance despite being housed in a slim 12 mm (0.47 inches) chassis.

Port selection includes Thunderbolt 4 with DisplayPort 1.4-out and Power Delivery, 1x USB Type-C 10 Gbps, 2x USB Type-A 10 Gbps, HDMI 2.1-out, and a combo audio jack. Buyers can configure the Omen Transcend 14 with either Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE200 or Wi-Fi 6E AX211 WLAN cards. Other aspects include a FHD IR webcam, lattice-less sky printed RGB keyboard, and a 71 WHr battery that supports 140 W USB-C charging.

HP also said that the Omen Transcend 14's audio is tuned by folks from the HyperX team. Apart from support for OpenVINO plugins, the laptop also offers Otter.ai for live transcriptions, real-time captions, AI-generated notes, and more.

The HP Omen Transcend 14 will be available for pre-orders in Shadow Black and Ceramic White colors starting today on HP.com from US$1,499.99.
