Good news for Amazfit users: Zepp Health extends update timeframe of many models

Zepp Health has extended the update period for a number of smartwatches, and quite significantly at that. For example, the Amazfit T-Rex 3 will now receive updates until September 2027. It's also not a given that Zepp Health will definitively cease all support after this date, as the manufacturer highlights that it continue to provide the necessary security fixes for critical security vulnerabilities.
The support period for the Amazfit Helio Ring has also been extended; it will now receive updates until December of this year. Furthermore, users of the Amazfit Active 2 Round will now benefit from updates until June 2028, and the Balance 2 will also receive updates until December 2026. However, we would like to highlight that this guaranteed support primarily refers to security updates. Accordingly, users should not expect to receive new features until the end of these specified periods.
Nevertheless, Zepp Health has a history of retrofitting various features to older wearables, improving the user experience considerably. This decision was certainly not made out of pure altruism, as the Amazfit Helio Ring is currently the only smart ring in the Amazfit portfolio. Therefore, ending support would be rather disadvantageous from a product strategy perspective if Zepp Health intends to remain competitive in the smartwatch sector.
