Garmin often updates its smartwatches more frequently than its rivals. However, these updates occasionally ship with issues despite the existence of a public beta program. Unfortunately, that recently happened with Software Version 21.19, which Garmin began rolling out to the following smartwatches at the start of the month:
- Forerunner 165
- Forerunner 255
- Forerunner 265
- Forerunner 955
- Forerunner 965
By all accounts, the update broke touchscreen functionality during activities for all smartwatches bar the Forerunner 255 (curr. $284 on Amazon). With that being said, the changelog for Software Version 21.20 suggests that its predecessor also shipped with a bug that caused the Connect IQ watch face to crash on the Forerunner 255. Please note that this also applies across all the other Forerunner smartwatches listed above too.
Moreover, touchscreen settings should now 'be respected' on the Forerunner 165, Forerunner 265, Forerunner 955 and Forerunner 965. On top of that, the latter two have also received a bug fix for a separate issue that prevented distance from being updated during a golf activity. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen for the time being when a new feature-focused update will arrive. Please see the forum posts linked below for more details.
