A new Garmin beta update is now available for three of the brand’s smartwatches. Version 12.11 resolves two issues, one relating to the Golf activity, and another which could cause Connect IQ watch faces to crash. In a forum post, Garmin also warns users that some models will temporarily lose access to a popular feature.

Garmin has announced beta update version 12.11 for the Venu 3, Venu 3s and vivoactive 5 smartwatches. It follows the stable version 12.10 software release at the end of November, which brought Strength Coach to the wearables.

The change log for version 12.11 indicates that it offers two bug fixes. Firstly, Garmin has resolved an issue for golfers, where distance was not always updated correctly for this activity. Secondly, there is a fix for a problem where Connect IQ watch faces could crash. As this is a beta update, users of the Venu 3 and Venu 3S who install the update will lose access to the ECG App. This will be reinstated towards the end of the beta cycle, or when a stable version of this software rolls out, though it is unclear when this could be.

If you are a member of the Beta Program and own a Garmin vivoactive 5, Venu 3 or Venu 3s smartwatch, you can install beta version 12.11 by going to the Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update. The Garmin Venu 3  smartwatch (45mm, Black) is currently available on Amazon for $447.99.
