The Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 965 (curr. $589.95 on Amazon) have been around for a while now. Specifically, Garmin announced the pair in 2023 a year after introducing the Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 955. Given that the company has updated its Approach, Descent, Enduro, Fenix and Instinct series in the last few months, it is high time that the Forerunner line receives the same treatment.
With that in mind, a recent Federal Communications Commission (FCC) listing has sparked interest in Garmin potentially refreshing the Forerunner series with a new model. The listing in question relates to 'A04968', which the FCC certified in December 2024. Although the documentation does not reveal too many details about A04968, it indicates that Garmin plans to release the device before the summer.
Given that Garmin has launched two generations worth of Forerunner smartwatches in March, the5krunner speculates that A04968 may relate to the Forerunner 975. Unfortunately, A04968 appears to lack support for Garmin Pay, which would surely feature on a new Forerunner smartwatch. Either way, we are likely only two or three months away from Garmin officially presenting A04968 in some capacity.
