GPD has posted a video clip of the Win Max dealing with GTA 5, and the performance is so smooth it helps you understand why the Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for the handheld console has been such a massive hit so far. The campaign got off to a stellar start from day one, but with 32 days of funding still left, the GPD Win Max has now garnered HKD$16.6 million (US$2.14 million) from backers looking to get their hands on the delightful little device.
Of course, gamers will be anxious to see how their favorite titles run on the GPD Win Max, so the company has kindly been posting videos of popular games being tested on the handheld game console. Ray tracing was tested with Battlefield V, God of War II ran without issue, and GTA 5 is slick as you like on the mini all-in-one hybrid device. GPD previously claimed that the Win Max ran GTA 5 at very playable rates of 45-62 FPS, although graphics settings were simply described as “default”.
With performances like the one shown in the GTA 5 test (video embedded below), it’s not entirely surprising that the GPD Win Max campaign currently stands at an awesome 8,297% of its total target on Indiegogo. There are still discounted handheld game consoles to be snapped up by backers, priced at HKD$6,038/US$779 each. The mini laptop utilizes an Intel Core i5-1035G7 processor with Iris Plus 940 Graphics and 16 GB dual-channel RAM to bring games like GTA 5 to its 8-inch IPS display.
