GPD Win Max crowdfunding goes insanely gangbusters by raking in over 3,000% of its flexible goal within hours of starting

If you were mulling over an early-bird purchase of a GPD Win Max handheld console then you better hurry up, as the Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for the device has gone completely gangbusters. The campaign officially started on May 18 and at the time of writing 3,178% of the HKD$200,000 goal (US$25,800) has been made. This means HKD$6,357,935 in funds, which is equivalent to about US$820,234.

Unsurprisingly, the first 1,000 units of the GPD Win Max have been claimed, but there are still offers to be had. GPD is offering two of the handheld consoles for US$1,548 (HKD$11,998) and has 300 more units for early birds to claim for US$779 each (HKD$6,038). However, by the way the campaign is going, that second batch of 300 single devices is likely to have been fully claimed before the end of the day.

GPD will undoubtedly be delighted with the response for the Win Max, although the handheld console’s full specification sheet helps explain why it has attracted so many backers. GPD has been running a seemingly successful promotion campaign on Twitter that has obviously convinced gamers of the abilities of the Win Max, especially when it comes to AAA gaming. Shipping is expected to begin in July.
