Yootech is a brand that has made accessories for Apple and Android phones since 2014. However, its latest product is also directed at those ultrabooks that have been left with just USB type C ports in their design. The Fophie USB hub connects to one of these so as to allow the PC to connect to devices with other input types.
They include those with 4K HDMI, USB type A (with up to USB 3.1 speeds) or USB type C ports. In the latter case, the Fophie can also charge them via Power Delivery (PD) at up to 70 watts (W). The dock also has microSD and SD card slots.
But what about phones with wireless charging? Yootech has thought about them too, by adding a Qi-compatible charger to the Fophie's top panel. This part of the dock can also tilt upward on a hinge (to a degree the brand does not specify) so as to act as a phone stand while the device in question powers cable-free.
This innovative product is provided with coils that can charge at a relatively fast rate of 15W. Therefore, it is compatible with most iPhones and Android smartphones at their best wireless rates. The Fophie has encountered great success since its initial launch on Kickstarter, having reached just over US$40000 with 18 days to go on its campaign. The stand itself starts at $59 on this platform (correct at time of writing).
