Technology
In contrast to the next-gen consoles (for example PS5), the PC version of FIFA 22 doesn't get a graphics update, but has to more or less make do with the technology of the Predecessor. Unfortunately, this is not the first time in the series' history that EA fobs off users of the theoretically strongest platform with a second-rate gaming experience, to say the least.
If you then see how some Twitch streamers invest several 100 or even 1,000 Euros in card packs, which legally already border on gambling (hardly regulated in the video game sector so far) and are accordingly questionable, you can sometimes only shake your head.
For these reasons, it is completely justified when gamers massively criticize FIFA 22 on rating and store sites. Whether you prefer to boycott the FIFA series completely or stay on the ball as a soccer fan is up to you.
We were mainly interested in the title's system requirements, especially the graphics hunger. Similar to last year's version, this is very low, which is not surprising considering the barely improved visuals. That means: If you were able to play FIFA 21 smoothly, you shouldn't have any problems with the 22 edition.
The graphics settings are also identical to the predecessor. Even outside of the game, the resolution, the rendering quality (from low to ultra) and the edge smoothing (2x to 4x MSAA) can be changed in the game settings, more precisely in the Display Configuration menu. In addition, there is an optional frame rate limit of 30 to 60 FPS.
Benchmark
Like FIFA 21 we measure the performance of the tested notebooks and desktop PCs based on a kick-off match between FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in the fictitious Sanderson Park, which takes place in the summer at 2:00 in the afternoon under clear skies.
After skipping the introductory videos, we use the CapFrameX tool to record the frame rate up to the fourth minute of the match (6 minutes of halftime length), which in reality means about 30-35 seconds. Since the FPS value is limited on replays, we try to avoid fouls and throw-ins etc. or skip corresponding sequences. The ball is simply kicked back and forth in the midfield whenever possible (see video).
Results
For the benchmarks, we mainly use loan devices from our partners at XMG (Schenker Technologies) and MSI.
FHD (1,920 x 1,080)
Due to the low graphics requirements, the processor often limits the use of moderate resolutions and settings. An average of at least 60 FPS should be achieved for a pleasant gaming experience. Even entry-level GPUs like the GeForce MX450 can often run FIFA 22 smoothly in Full HD with maximum details and quadruple edge smoothing.

QHD (2,560 x 1,440)
An inexpensive multimedia system is also sufficient for QHD displays with 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. Midrange chips on the level of the GeForce GTX 1650 (Ti) like to crack the 100 FPS mark even in maximum settings.

UHD (3,840 x 2,160)
Even in the 4K range, it does not have to be a real gaming prodigy. Even here, mid-range GPUs can achieve pleasingly high frame rates. Nevertheless, it would be time for EA to improve the technical framework (again). The graphics of FIFA 22 could just as well come from a 5-year-old game.

Note
Since gaming tests are very time-consuming and often hindered by installation or activation limits, we can only provide you with a part of the benchmarks for the publication of the articles. More graphics cards will be installed in the coming days and weeks.
