A new smart security camera has been unveiled by Eufy, the 4G Starlight Camera. The device will be available to customers in the US for US$249. The gadget has an optional solar panel for US$20 that, with a few hours of sunlight each day, can ensure your camera is always running.

Eufy has announced a new smart security camera, the 4G Starlight Camera. The device has an optional 2.6 W solar panel to enhance the device’s battery life; Eufy says that a few hours of sunlight each day will enable the camera to run continuously.

The camera has a built-in battery to provide up to three months of life. You can also use wireless 4G LTE cellular connectivity via AT&T for the device, meaning that you can install the gadget in places that do not have Wi-Fi coverage.

The 2K camera has a 5MP lens, giving lots of detail to the captured images. The device has 2.5x zoom, a spotlight and a starlight sensor for color night vision in low light environments. The device has an IP67 rating meaning it can withstand some dust and rain. The gadget will work in temperatures from -4 to 131°F (-20 to 55°C).

Eufy claims that its Smart AI Detection is five times faster than cloud AI and that it will eliminate up to 95% of false intruder alarms. Another safety feature is the built-in GPS tracker, which will help you locate the device if it’s stolen or lost.

Customers in the US will be able to purchase the 4G Starlight Camera from April 15. The gadget will cost US$269 with the solar panel or US$249 without it. The optional AT&T 4G Sim costs an additional ~US$30 per month. A weatherproof silicone camouflage cover will be available later, though no further details have been given about this.
