Comcast has started to roll out its new Supersonic Wi-Fi, made possible with its Wi-Fi 6E xFi Advanced Gateway device. Comcast claims that the Supersonic Wi-Fi is capable of speeds over 1 Gbps and that it has three times the capacity of other internet services.
The new Wi-Fi 6E router has three Wi-Fi bands; 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and the new 6 GHz band. You can use the xFi app to control the gadget and set up tools such as parental controls or screen time rules.
The device has a built-in Zigbee, and it will support Matter when the standard is released, enabling it to connect to your other smart home devices. Other benefits of the new gateway include a more reliable connection. With the optional xFi Pod as part of the xFi Complete package, you can get wall-to-wall Wi-Fi coverage.
The company said it had introduced faster speeds and additional bandwidth to keep up with growing demand; Xfinity customers connected almost 1 billion devices to the internet in 2021, 12 times the amount seen several years ago. According to the company, Supersonic Wi-Fi allows you to connect hundreds of devices.
The xFi Advanced Gateway costs US$14 per month. The router is now available to customers with the Xfinity Internet Gigabit or Ultrafast packages in the US.
