Epson launches new Q series 4K laser projectors with up to 10,000 lumens brightness
Epson has launched three new laser projectors in its Q series: the QB1000, the QL3000 and the QL7000. The models, designed for home theaters, are said to deliver a 4K (3,840 x 2,160 px) resolution with an up to 120Hz refresh rate. The Q series projectors' laser light sources are expected to last for up to 20,000 hours and offer higher ISO-rated white and IDMS-rated color brightness levels.
The QB1000 is the entry-level model in this range, offering up to 3,300 lumens of brightness. Next is the QL3000, with a higher brightness level of 6,000 lumens, while the range-topping QL7000 peaks at 10,000 lumens. The projectors support HDR10, HDR and HLG, and double micro-lens array technology for images up to 300 inches (~762 cm) wide. Epson's QXZ Picture Processor is said to enhance brightness, color accuracy and contrast, and you can adjust the image with motorized lens shift. While all three versions offer dual 40 Gbps HDMI 2.1 ports, the QB1000 has HDMI 2.1 ARC/eARC. Combined with Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and an under 20 ms input lag, Epson suggests this particular model is suited to gaming.
While the projectors can integrate with the Control4 and Crestron smart home systems, it appears that they cannot be linked with other ecosystems like Google Home or Apple HomeKit. The Epson QB1000, QL3000 and QL7000 will retail for $7,999, $14,999 and $29,999, respectively, when they launch this October. It is worth noting that the QL3000 and QL7000 are sold as "Body Only", meaning they do not come with a lens; however, they are compatible with any High Precision Lens from Epson.
