Deal | Dell Inspiron 5000 5505 with Ryzen 5 undercuts the Intel Core i5 version by over $100 USD, now on sale for $489 USD

We recently finished reviewing the Intel-powered Dell Inspiron 15 5000 5502 designed for students and home users on tight budgets. For AMD options, users should look at the Inspiron 15 5505 which uses the exact same chassis as the Intel Inspiron 15 5502 but with different processors. Applying the coupon code 'EXTRA50' at checkout will take off $50 USD from any AMD configuration including even the base $539 USD option with the Ryzen 5 4500U CPU.

This AMD deal is notable for the same reasons as the recent HP Pavilion 15 sale. For one, the AMD Ryzen 5 4500U is roughly on par with the new 11th gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 that's available on the Inspiron 15 5502. Secondly, this particular chassis is a brand new 2020 design from Dell meaning buyers won't be paying for an older or outdated model. The $100 price difference between the Ryzen 5 and Core i5 options showcases the performance-per-dollar advantage that AMD has never hesitated to boast.

To Intel's credit, its integrated Iris Xe graphics is slightly faster than the integrated AMD Radeon on average as shown by our 3DMark comparisons below, but real-world performance in games will still vary from title to title. Either option will run undemanding titles like DOTA 2 or Rocket League decently.

RAM and storage are low at 8 GB and 256 GB, respectively, for the configuration in question. Both are fortunately user-upgradeable to easily extend the life of the laptop as shown by our review of the Intel model here.
