Following on the footsteps of the $300 Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15 deal yesterday, Dell is now offering something a little more powerful for those willing to spend a little more. The Inspiron 15 5505 is currently on sale for $490 USD with more connectivity options and a much faster AMD processor than the aforementioned Lenovo.
The highlight of the Dell configuration in question is the 6-core Ryzen 5 4500U CPU which can actually stand toe-to-toe with Intel's popular Core i5-8265U, Core i7-8565U, Core i5-1035G7, or Core i7-1065G7. These Intel alternatives are commonly found on much pricier laptops reaching over $1000 USD. In short, the Inspiron 15 5505 can offer a similar level of processor performance as many other Ultrabooks worth twice the price.
The devil is in the details. Aside from the cheaper plastic chassis, owners will only be getting 8 GB of single-channel RAM and a relatively small 256 GB NVMe SSD. These modules are thankfully removable and user-upgradeable.
Unfortunately, we have yet to review the Inspiron 15 5505 firsthand to give our personal take on the system, but users can still check out our review on the last generation Inspiron 5585 to learn more about the series.
