laptop deals have been steadily trickling in now that we're just days away from Black Friday and the general start of the Holiday shopping season. One of these deals is for the latest generation Alienware m15 R3 which is Dell's flagship ultra-thin 15.6-inch gaming laptop. As of this writing, Best Buy has a configuration with the Core i7-10750H CPU and GeForce RTX 2070 Super GPU for just $1500 to make it one of the cheapest laptops you can find with the same GPU.
The sale is notable because the Alienware m15 R3 uses a full-power mobile GeForce RTX 2070 Super with vapor chamber cooling instead of the slightly slower GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q. It even includes a 300 Hz display whereas most other gaming laptops in this price range are "only" 144 Hz or 240 Hz in comparison.
There are three main drawbacks to the system. The first is fan noise as users will have to endure upwards of 50 dB(A) when gaming. The second is the soldered RAM which means owners will be stuck with 16 GB of RAM for the life of the unit. The third is size as the Alienware m15 R3 is both thicker and heavier than other ultra-thin 15.6-inch gaming laptops.
See our full review on the Alienware m15 R3 here to learn more about the system. Though our reviewed configuration is slightly different, the chassis and thermals should be the same if not very similar.

After graduating with a B.S. in environmental hydrodynamics from the University of California, I studied reactor physics to become licensed by the U.S. NRC to operate nuclear reactors. There's a striking level of appreciation you gain for everyday consumer electronics after working with modern nuclear reactivity systems astonishingly powered by computers from the 80s. When I'm not managing day-to-day activities and US review articles on Notebookcheck, you can catch me following the eSports scene and the latest gaming news.
