On the lines of the Alienware m15 R4, Dell has also announced a refresh of the Alienware m17 gaming laptop. Today's Alienware m17 R4 is an internal upgrade over last year's Alienware m17 R3 and offers a largely similar feature set.
Like the Alienware m15 R4, the m17 R4 is also powered by the Core i7-10870H and Core i7-10980HK processor options. Buyers can configure the memory starting from 8 GB of DDR4-2933 to up to 32 GB while opting for PCIe NVMe storage choices in single or RAID configurations adding up to a total of 4 TB.
The Alienware m17 R4 can be configured with several Ampere mobile GPUs, which were made official by NVIDIA today. Obviously, keeping the temperatures under check with such a configuration would require a beefy cooling solution, and the m17 R4 does not disappoint.
Dell has endowed the m17 R4 with 66 fan blades each for the CPU and the GPU with the CPU also sporing vapor chamber cooling. A 6-phase and 12-phase VRM arrangement for the CPU and GPU, respectively come standard in all configurations.
Similar to last year's m17 R3, this year's m17 R4 also comes with several 17.3-inch display options including an FHD variant with a 360 Hz refresh rate. Those who prefer higher resolution and more vibrant colors can opt for a 500-nit 4K 60 Hz panel with 100% Adobe RGB coverage.
The Alienware m17 R4 will be available from January 26 at prices starting from US$2,149.99. Dell also mentioned that the Alienware m17 R4 is recognized as a CES 2021 Innovation Award Honoree (Gaming).
