DJI has just released the Osmo 360 as its first 360-degree action cameraRivalling the GoPro Max 2 and Insta360 X5 (curr. $549 on Amazon), the Osmo 360 is one of several devices that DJI is reputed to be launching this summmer and autumn. While a few of these products also fall within the company's Osmo division, recent evidence suggests that DJI is finally preparing to replace its Mini 4 Pro drone too.
Now, alleged retail packaging and a first high-resolution device image have surfaced online, revealing numerous details about the Mini 5 Pro ahead of schedule. Seemingly posted first by @KietN7650 on X and originating from an employee, the image is considered by Ellens to be legitimate for the time being. Based on the information contained in the image above, the Mini 5 Pro will line up with a 1-inch CMOS sensor that delivers up to 4K and 120 FPS videos and a 48 mm telephoto mode likely achieved by in-sensor cropping.
Moreover, the Mini 5 Pro appears set to offer 36-minute flight times officially, in a mere 2-minute improvement from its predecessor. The full list of key features shown in the image are as follows:
- 1-inch camera sensor with 48 mm in-sensor crop
- 36-minute official flight times per Intelligent Flight Battery
- 4K/120 FPS video capabilities
- ActiveTrack 360°, Waypoint, Cruise Control, Follow (Advanced), LADAR (Lidar Assisted Detection and Ranging)
- High-Quality Aerial Imaging with MasterShots
- Night Mode, HDR, and Noise Reduction
- Obstacle Sensing in All Directions (Omnidirectional Sensing)
- True Vertical Shooting and 225° Gimbal Rotation for more flexible camera movements
- Ultra-Light & Foldable (no weight specified)
According to leaker Jasper Ellens, the Mini 5 Pro will no longer arrive on August 7 as he previously claimedFor that to occur, we would have expected DJI to have shared a teaser a week before that date. With that not occurring by July 31, it seemed all but set in stone that DJI's next compact drone would be launching slightly later in the year than Ellens had suggested.
Writing on DroneXL, Ellens now reports that the Mini 5 Pro will officially land in September. While the leaker does not provide a date, he implies that the Mini 5 Pro and Neo 2 could appear within a few weeks of each other. Unfortunately, DJI is not anticipated to offer either drone in the US given the recent escalation in the China-United States trade war.
