Rumours about DJI releasing the Mini 5 Pro later this year have been circulating since December 2024. Just recently, apparent retail packaging and the first high-resolution product image leaked online, indicating that an official launch is close. According to new reports, DJI actually plans to release two sub-250 g drones before the end of the year.
Emerging via Chinese media, various sources now report that DJI is also preparing to introduce a panoramic drone before 2026 that can shoot 360-degree videos. Apparently, DJI has designed the unnamed drone to see off the first Antigravity drone that Insta360 teased last week. Incidentally, a hands-on video of the latter has already surfaced online.
So far, DJI's panoramic drone is expected to build on the camera hardware it recently delivered inside the Osmo 360. Moreover, the drone is believed to weigh less than 250 g to earn a C0 drone classification. Thus, the device may sit within the Mini series as something like the Mini 360, which DJI most recently refreshed almost two years ago with the Mini 4 Pro (curr. $1,889 on Amazon).
Currently, the unnamed DJI drone is anticipated to achieve 8K/360-degree video capabilities via a three‑axis mechanical gimbal with up to 30 minutes of battery life and a 10 km range. At this stage, DJI is expected to price the drone at more than CNY 5,000 (~$695), which would reputedly see it launch for slightly more than its Antigravity rival.
