HoverAir has now released its latest drone after running an extended teaser campaign. For context, HoverAir is best known for rivalling DJI with drones like the HoverAir X1 (curr. $439 on Amazon). While Insta360 has now attempted to muscle in on DJI's patch with the Antigravity A1, HoverAir has taken a different approach with the Aqua.
As the video below highlights, the HoverAir Aqua is a waterproof drone that can land on and take off from water. Moreover, HoverAir claims that its drone can right itself if wind or waves knock it over. From a technical perspective, the HoverAir Aqua features a 1/1.28-inch CMOS sensor that can capture 10-bit H-log footage in 4K at up to 100 FPS. Alternatively, HoverAir claims that its new drone can shoot 12 MP photos with an f/2.55 aperture lens and HDR support.
Moreover, the HoverAir Aqua features a 2,013 mAh battery rated for up to 23-minute flight times between charges. Also, the drone contains Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) positioning and a 1.6-inch AMOLED display that serves as a viewfinder. Furthermore, the Aqua is rated for up to a 55 km/h top speed with 18.3 m/s of wind resistance, all within a housing that measures 202 x 206 x 64 mm and weighs 249 g for C0 drone certification.
Currently, the HoverAir Aqua starts at $999 with its Fly More Combo package rather than its alleged $1,676 MSRP. This deal will only be available until August 22 though, after which HoverAir will switch to the Aqua Standard Combo at the same $999 Indiegogo pricing. At the time of publication, HoverAir hopes to begin shipping to Indiegogo backers by December 2025. Please see the HoverAir Aqua Indiegogo campaign for more details.
