DJI is launching a new drone that is designed to be particularly powerful and capable of carrying pretty heavy loads. The Agras T100 is a professional product that’s intended for business customers instead of consumers.

Many regular consumers are probably familiar with drones or quadcopters that can take videos or photos, and we’ve already reviewed a number of popular products made by the well-known brand DJI. However, DJI also caters to professional customers. For instance, the company offers drones that can be used in agriculture and spray certain liquids, such as herbicides.

Compared to manual application, this can be significantly more efficient. In contrast to a crop duster aircraft, the regulatory requirements are probably much lower in many regions, and there might also be less spray drift. DJI has now introduced a new drone for this exact use case. The DJI Agras T100 can spray up to 170 lbs of liquid out of four nozzles. Furthermore, it’s equipped with two batteries and can carry up to 220 lbs in total. For instance, the drone can be used to transport tools to locations that are difficult to reach otherwise.

The Agras T100 has an effective spray width of 36 ft, and the drone itself measures approximately 35.4 x 32.3 x 36.2 inches and can be controlled via GPS. This allows users to track where crop protection has already been applied. Thanks to GPS-RTK, this should be quite accurate with a deviation of just 4 inches. Without RTK, that number increases to 24 inches. Meanwhile, collisions can be avoided by a radar system and optical obstacle detection. The new DJI drone is expected to cost well over $10,000.
