Citizen’s Eco-Drive collection is getting a new Chrono Racing CA4716-50L model, a watch that has a motor-racing-inspired design with established solar-quartz technology. Measuring 39.5 mm in diameter and 12.3 mm in thickness, the stainless steel case is sized for a mid-range profile that should be more versatile overall, as compared to the larger footprints often found in aviation or racing chronographs. The dial design is the main differentiator for this reference, featuring a deep blue base with vertical striping and a three-sub-dial layout.
The mechanical performance of the CA4716-50L is driven by the Caliber B620 Eco-Drive movement. As a light-powered caliber, it converts both natural and artificial light into energy, and can maintain a power reserve of approximately 9 months on a full charge under normal use conditions. The movement features a 1/5-second chronograph capable of measuring up to 60 minutes, a 24-hour sub-dial for AM/PM distinction, and a date window positioned between the 4 and 5 o'clock markers. The B620 also has an insufficient charge warning and an overcharge prevention function.
From a technical construction standpoint, the watch utilizes a mineral crystal for the dial window. While mineral glass does provide higher impact resistance than sapphire, but it is still more more susceptible to surface abrasions in a racing or daily-wear context. The CA4716-50L has a water resistance rating of 10 ATM (100 meters), which makes it suitable for swimming and surface aquatic activities. The package also gets a matching stainless steel bracelet with a secure closure. In the Singapore market, the model is priced at S$523.20, which converts to approximately $411.08 USD. On third-party EU channels like Larrabe, the watch is priced at 219 euros.
