Citizen’s latest release is more about utility than anything else, packaged in a compact, mid-size form factor that is unlike the larger silhouettes common in the radio-controlled segment. At the heart of these models is the H149 movement, a solar-powered Eco-Drive engine that gets rid of battery replacements entirely. The movement is well-known for its "perpetual calendar" and "direct flight" world time functionality, which lets users switch between 26 time zones by simply rotating the crown.
The case and bracelet construction use Citizen’s proprietary Super Titanium with Duratect surface-hardening treatment. This material is documented as being five times harder and 40% lighter than standard stainless steel, with a high degree of scratch resistance and hypoallergenic properties for daily wear. The physical profile is also pretty slim at only 9.3 mm, protected by a sapphire crystal, to make sure that the watch holds its clarity and structural integrity under harsh conditions.
The collection has four distinct colorways that should cater to different kinds of users in both professional and casual environments. The CB1160-55A has a more classic, panda-adjacent look with a white dial and golden indices, while the 55E (Black), 55L (Blue), and 55W (Green) have deep, sunray-finished alternative dials for a more contemporary design. Pricing and exact availability should be revealed soon enough.
