CHUWI is adding 45W charging to its crowdfunding champ, the Minibook

CHUWI is an OEM with an increasingly recognizable name in cost-effective notebooks. One of its most interesting recent prospects is the MiniBook, which, as the name suggests, is a super-compact PC. With its 8-inch screen, up to Intel Core m3-8100Y SoC and up to 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM, it could be the last word in portable computing for many potential buyers - presuming its campaign to fund its production on Indiegogo (IGG) pans out, that is.

At the time of writing, it appears that this will be plausible indeed. CHUWI has just announced that the amount raised by the MiniBook has approached US$540,000, which has been contributed by approximately 960 backers. To celebrate this achievement, the OEM will throw in an upgraded charger with units of this PC shipped.

This accessory is described as a "45W PD charger", and, while it has been photographed on the IGG page's Update section, may have a different appearance after the product is finalized. However, upgrading one's reward to include this additional offer is not completely straightforward.

CHUWI has set some rules to follow prior to getting such a charger. The backer must share the campaign using the social media platform of their choice, tagging the applicable official OEM account in the process. Then, it's a matter of screenshotting this post and sending it to crowdfunding(at)chuwi.com.

Alternatively, a backer can pay an additional $1 for the new charger (although it is possible that this is a CHUWI joke; however, it's a hypothetical bargain compared to rumors that Samsung's own upcoming 45W power brick could cost about $55). Therefore, backing this campaign presages not only the possibility of owning a notebook that could fit in a pocket, but also one that does not take long to power up.
