Chuwi has brought its latest device to market, the LapBook Plus. The device looks remarkably like a MacBook Pro, with Chuwi shamelessly using a wallpaper in its promotional material from the macOS 10.12 Sierra wallpaper deck. Just Google "mac OS sierra pink wallpaper" if you do not believe us. The wallpaper and Space Grey finish is where the comparison with the MacBook Pro stops though.
The LapBook Plus comes with an Intel Atom X7-E3950 processor, 8 GB RAM, a 256 GB SSD and runs Windows 10. These are backed up with a measly 36.5 Wh battery, which powers a 15.6-inch 4K IPS display. Curiously, Chuwi lists the display as being both 4K and FHD, so perhaps there has been a confusion of acronyms there. The company is also promising that the display will cover 100% of sRGB and reach a maximum of 340 nits. The device supports up to 802.11 n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 too, both of which are outdated now for a device released in 2019.
Elsewhere, the LapBook Plus comes with two USB Type-A ports, one of which being USB 3.0 with the other operating at the slower USB 2.0 standard. There is also a microSD card reader and a micro HDMI port, along with a headphone jack and a power connector. Additionally, Chuwi has built-in a 2 MP webcam, and decked the LapBook Plus in a metal unibody chassis.
The LapBook Plus weighs 1.53 kg and measures 362 x 242 x 15.9 mm, although it apparently tapers to just 6 mm at its thinnest point. The laptop is available to pre-order now on Gearbest for US$459.99, from where it will ship on July 11.
