Axiomtek is back on the scene with the introduction of a passively cooled compact edge computer, dubbed the AIM101. This mini PC packs a decently powerful quad-core Intel CPU. As can be expected from an industrial mini PC, a ton of I/O and networking options are present as well.
To be specific, the AIM101 mini PC is powered by the Intel N150 processor with four cores (Gracemont) and four threads, with a maximum clock speed of 3.6 GHz. In raw benchmarks, the N150 is roughly in the same league as an Intel Core i3-1005G1 chip. In other words, the N150 should be enough for lightweight tasks, but expecting anything more from the chip will most likely prove to be futile.
The industrial mini PC comes equipped with 8 or 16 GB of LPDDR5 SDRAM, and storage requirements are handled by a 2.5-inch, M.2 2280, as well as an mSATA slot. An M.2 2230 slot is also present for housing wireless networking cards. The passively cooled system is constructed from aluminum and steel, giving the mini PC a very industrial look, which suits its intended environments. Moreover, a nano SIM slot is provided as well. The I/O on offer is as follows:
- Dual USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
- Dual USB 2.0 Type-A
- Dual 2.5G Ethernet
- DIO, CAN, or COM (RS-232/422/485) bus - optional.
The Axiomtek AIM101 industrial mini PC is already on sale, although pricing details are not revealed. Like most other products targeted at industrial use, the pricing will likely vary depending on order volume. More details regarding the system can be found on Axiomtek's website. For consumers, the Acemagic V1 (currently $208.05 on Amazon) with the same chip will definitely be a better choice.
