15.6-inch fanless industrial panel PC features Intel Core Ultra 5 SoC and IP65 front panel
Nexcom has officially launched its APPC160 C21-01, designed for system integrators and modern smart manufacturing builders. The standout feature here is the slim-bezel design with an IP65 rating for extreme AI-edge processing capabilities. This makes it much better than the IP53-rated Simply NUC Bloodhound mini-PC.
Built around the Intel Core Ultra 5 125U processor with 12 cores and 14 threads, this industrial panel PC supports up to 32GB of DDR5 5600MHz memory and fast PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD storage. It also includes an M.2 Key E 2230 slot for Wi-Fi/BT, along with four dedicated antenna holes for robust wireless communication.
The 15.6-inch panel features a full HD 1920x1080 10-point P-Cap touch display with 7H surface hardness. It has up to 400 nits of brightness, which is kind of in the lower end of the spectrum compared to products like waveshare ESP32-S3 4.3inch AI Voice or the ESP32-P4-WIFI6-Touch-LCD-4.3-C. But it has a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 16.7M colors, and a 178-degree viewing angle.
Moreover, it includes four USB 3.2 Gen1 ports and a DB9 serial port for expansion. On top of that, we also have four Gigabit Ethernet (Intel I210) ports, which can be used to connect the unit to multiple IP devices. It's powered via 12V, 19V, or 24V DC input and uses TPM 2.0 for security.
The PC comes in a slim form factor measuring only 388.1mm x 245.3mm x 67.6mm and supports VESA 100 and wall mounting. The system is CE and FCC Class A certified and supports Windows 11 IoT, Windows 10 IoT, and Ubuntu.
On paper, the features look all well and good, but there are a few little things to watch out for. First of all, it uses an HDMI 1.4 instead of newer HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort. On top of that, it doesn't have many I/Os, so folks running setups that demand massive I/O expansion for multiple proprietary add-in cards, that single Mini PCIe slot can feel a bit limiting.
