Asus ROG Matrix Platinum GeForce RTX 4090 hits the market priced above US$8,000
Although it was introduced over a year ago with an MSRP of US$1,599, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 is a video card quite hard to find on Amazon for less than US$2,000. However, things are different in China, where the GeForce RTX 4090 will face an import ban and the prices of regular models are usually around US$2,600. The shock comes for those looking to grab the flagship GeForce RTX 4090 ROG Matrix Platinum by Asus, which has an MSRP of US$3,199 but can only be acquired for US$8,230.
Unveiled on May 30, the high-end ROG Matrix video card based on the GeForce RTX 4090 features a liquid metal thermal compound, a custom 360 mm radiator with a trio of ROG MF-12S ARGB fans, while the setup and cable management are easier thanks to the magnetic connector. A Dual BIOS switch with silent and performance presets is also present, as well as a chamber made of aluminum for protecting the PBC, pump, and main cold plate. All these solutions were used to deliver the highest boost clock of any RTX 4090 available on the market.
Chinese retailer JD has this extreme piece of hardware listed for 59,999 RMB, which converts to roughly US$8,230. The MSRP of this card for the Chinese market, where it launched today, is just 23,000 RMB, so about US$3,155. However, the stock version had a slightly higher price in China compared to the US (12,999 RMB or about US$1,780).
Thankfully, US customers can get the liquid-cooled MSI GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM Liquid X 24G (V510-007R) on Amazon for US$2,159 for the time being, although the available stock is quite thin (only 11 left at the time of publishing). On the other hand, the high-end Asus ROG Matrix Platinum GeForce RTX 4090 is available on eBay starting around US$4,000.
