Apple iPad 10: The entry into Apple's tablet world becomes more expensive
The 10th generation of the iPad takes up the design of the iPad Air 2020 and its successor. It is run by an Apple A14 Bionic processor, which is equipped with 4 GB of working memory. You have the option between 64 or 256 GB of internal storage, and there is also an optional mobile connection. In addition, it is also able to use Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 now.
While this sounds like a gentle upgrade, not only does the price increase by 150 Euros (~$156) with the new design, but the battery also becomes smaller. Those who think that it offers some additional characteristics of the iPad Air will be disappointed. The IPS panel continues to be not fully laminated and also doesn't have any antireflective coating. It continues to support the Apple Pencil 1. While that is more affordable than its successor, it still has a Lightning connection, forcing you to purchase an additional adapter to USB-C, in order to be able to connect the pen to the tablet at all. The USB connection also only supports data transfer according to the 2.0 standard and doesn't offer native image output - only if you purchase another optional adapter. The cover and keyboard prices for the iPad 10 also get a hefty increase.
Apple fails to provide its tablet with even a small benefit over the predecessor. The faster SoC is just not good enough to justify an upgrade from the iPad 9, and the design alone doesn't justify the price increase either. So it isn't very surprising that Apple continues to offer the predecessor in its shop. On the other hand, those who decide to purchase an iPad 10 basically don't make any mistake, since they receive a tablet that is technically very good.
While the iPad 10 can be purchased in all the storage and color variations from Apple directly, it is more affordable from Amazon.
