Onyx BOOX is now selling the Leaf2 in the US. Available in two colours, the E-reader has a high-resolution E Ink display, runs Android 11 and is only 6 mm thick.

Onyx BOOX has brought the Leaf2 E-reader to the US, having released the device over a month ago in China. Surprisingly, the Leaf2 costs less in the US at current exchange rates than it does in China, where Onyx BOOX sells it for CNY 1,580 (US$225). At the time of writing, the Leaf2 is available from B&H Photo Video or BOOX directly, both for US$199.99.

The Leaf2 comes in two colours, as Onyx BOOX’s marketing images show. While the two are more or less identical, the white lacks matte glass protection over its display. As a result, the white version is 15 g lighter than its black counterpart but at the expense of recessed display edges. Both have 7-inch E Ink Carta displays that operate at 1,680 x 1,264 pixels and 300 DPI, though.

Additionally, the Leaf2 has 2 GB of LPDDR4X RAM, 32 GB of eMMC flash storage and runs Android 11 out of the box. Moreover, Onyx BOOX includes an undisclosed Qualcomm chipset with Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, a 2,000 mAh battery for up to 26 days of battery life and a Micro SD card reader. Both variants feature a USB Type-C port too, as well as built-in microphones, speakers and G-sensors for auto rotation support. More details about the Leaf2 can be found on Onyx BOOX’s website.
