Amazfit Active debuts as new mid-range smartwatch with Apple Watch looks
Amazfit has now launched the Active, a new smartwatch that follows on from the Balance that arrived at the start of last month. While the Balance has a round display, Amazfit has built the Active around a squircle panel that resembles the Apple Watch Series 9. Setting those similarities aside, the Amazfit Active is already orderable from Amazfit's official AliExpress store, although the company has not listed the smartwatch on its website yet.
According to the AliExpress listing, the Amazfit Active has a 1.75-inch AMOLED display that resolves at 450 x 390 pixels with a 73% screen-to-body ratio. Additionally, Amazfit has given the display a curved finish, which allows it to gradually taper into the smartwatch's metallic frame. The Active's official weight of 24 g without its silicone strap suggests that it has a plastic housing though, unlike more expensive alternatives like the Pixel Watch 2, Watch Series 9 or the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro.
Moreover, the Amazfit Active is said to be 5 ATM water resistant with up to 14 days of battery life. Amazfit adds that it has included a GNSS module for providing location services, too, which reduces official battery life estimates as low as 16 hours with the feature in continuous use. Furthermore, the Amazfit Active has a heart rate monitor that can also track blood oxygen saturation levels, among other health metrics. Currently, the Amazfit Active is orderable on AliExpress for US$151 in Midnight Black and Petal Pink finishes.
