Earlier today, Google unveiled the Pixel Watch 2, which debuted alongside the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. As we have discussed separately, Google shared most details about its second smartwatch, such as the switch to a Snapdragon chipset, improved battery life and a new EDA sensor, among other changes. However, there are a few details that the company left for the likes of 9to5Google to discover during their hands-on time with the smartwatch.
For example, Google has added inertial scrolling, a feature that is lacking in the original Pixel Watch. Thus, scrolling on its successor should feel more natural and intuitive, mirroring the experience on an Apple Watch. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen whether Google can enable this change on the first Pixel Watch.
Additionally, Google has overhauled its charging solution with its second-generation smartwatch. Logically, Google would have integrated Qi wireless charging, a feature missing from the first Pixel Watch. Instead, it has brought across the charging technology from the Fitbit Sense and Versa series, which has four charging pins. According to 9to5Google, the Pixel Watch 2 is compatible with Sense and Sense 2 chargers, for instance, but not the original Pixel Watch charger, despite its visual similarities.
