The Apple Watch Series 9 is the latest version of Cupertino’s iPhone companion. The smartwatch, which Apple announced alongside the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Apple iPhone 15 series, had a launch MSRP of US$399, the same as the Apple Watch Series 8. Thankfully, the Apple Watch Series 9 price has gotten a sweet discount (via slickdeals).
You can now buy the 45 mm Apple Watch Series 9 (GPS) for only US$359 on Amazon. According to camelcamelcamel, this is the lowest price for the smartwatch to date.
The Apple Watch Series 9 keeps the design of its predecessor while packing a new S9 SiP chip that brings an improved GPU, NPU, and battery life. The S9 Sip also allows the Watch Series 9 to process Siri requests on-device making the process faster and more private. The smartwatch also brings a brighter display that can shoot up to 2000 nits of brightness.
Furthermore, the Apple Watch Series 9 brings a new “Double tap” gesture. The gesture, which is activated when the user taps the index finger and the thumb twice in a quick motion, can be used to answer/hang up calls, control the alarm, play/pause music, etc.
Moving on, the Apple Watch Series 9 features “Precision Finding”, a feature that allows the Watch 9 to accurately locate an iPhone 15 device by giving useful information such as distance and direction. Apple claims the feature works even if the misplaced device is in a separate room.
All in all, the Apple Watch Series 9 may not be visually distinguishable from the Watch Series 8, but the inclusion of several nifty features and the latest reduced price make it a solid upgrade.
