Acer launches new affordable 16-inch gaming laptop with Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 and 165Hz display

Acer is continuing to expand its Nitro V 16 lineup in the US. Earlier this week, the company opened preorders for two higher-end Nitro V 16 AI configurations with AMD processors and GeForce RTX 5070 and RTX 5060 graphics, priced at $2,099.99 and $1,899.99, respectively.

Now, Acer has quietly added a more affordable alternative. The new Nitro V 16 ANV16-I31-54PT costs $1,199.99 and swaps the AMD Ryzen AI chips for Intel's Core 5 210H, an eight-core, 16-thread Raptor Lake-H processor with boost clocks of up to 4.8 GHz and a 45 W base power rating.

To that end, the Core 5 210H should still offer a noticeable uplift over the older Core i5-13420H thanks to its higher boost clocks. In our testing, we also found the CPU outperforms the Ryzen AI 5 330 by roughly 50 percent, though it tends to consume more power. That said, Acer also pairs the processor with Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5050 laptop GPU configured with up to 95 W of graphics power.

Elsewhere, the laptop comes with 8 GB of DDR5 memory and a 512 GB PCIe 4.0 SSD. While the memory capacity is fairly modest by today's gaming standards, the rest of the package is solid for the price, including a 16-inch IPS display with a 1,920 x 1,200 resolution and a 165 Hz refresh rate. Acer also includes a 76 Wh battery, a four-zone RGB backlit keyboard, and a dual-fan cooling system.
