Acer Aspire E5-571G-536E

The Acer Aspire E5-571G-536E is a capable laptop with the performance expected for its price point and decent design. The completely black chassis is finished with a brush metal pattern and looks simple and professional. There is a full sized island-style keyboard which suggests that typing on the laptop is comfortable and responsive.

The Windows 8.1 64-bit system is powered by an Intel Core i5-4210U processor clocked at 1.70 GHz, 8 GB DDR3L SDRAM (up to 16 GB supported), and Nvidia GeForce 840M GPU with 2 GB VRAM. Storage space is 1 TB, which is a nice option to have.

The specifications are pretty impressive especially since there are also a DVD burner, which is absent from many notebooks these days, SD card reader and a webcam with microphone. Users get to interact with a 15.6 inch ComfyView Full HD LCD with LED technology. Other hardware includes 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 USB 3.0 port, HDMI out adapter and even VGA. Business users can be assured that their laptop is equipped for older projection hardware for their critical presentation. The 2.5 kg laptop is also equipped with a 6-cell lithium ion battery rated at 2500 mAh.

Solid total package. Acer introduces its Aspire E5-571G as an all-round laptop that includes a dedicated Nvidia graphics card and Intel Core i5 processor. However, hardware is not everything in this category - it very much depends on performance and quality. Has Acer created a successful combination for 700 Euros (~$920)? Find out in the following report.

The Acer Aspire E15 Touch is a mid-range 15" laptop with—you've guessed it—a touch screen. This is yet another computer whose decent all-round performance is ruined by a catastrophic screen. To top it off, the audio didn't in any way compensate for the poor display.

60% Can AMD's Kaveri APU make up for this mid-range laptop's misgivings?
Source: Techradar English Archive.org version
The Acer Aspire E5-551 isn't a disaster, but for a machine that costs what it does, that's the biggest compliment it can be paid. It really boils down to what you need from a laptop. Its 1TB hard disk drive is capacious, but slow. The display is big, but suffers from a low pixel-resolution. Windows 8.1 apps run smoothly, but the display has no touch operation. While performance on the desktop isn't too shabby, Acer's claims that AMD's new Kaveri processor makes it a value-based powerhouse are very off the mark.

A perfectly suitable computer for those who want a reliable and modest solution, the E15 sets a respectable mark for the budget end of the spectrum of 15.6-inch notebooks. Sure, a Chromebook may be able to give a better screen and a smaller body, but a lot of offices demand a strict adherence to the Microsoft Office ecosystem, which those cannot help you with.

Acer's updated Aspire E5-571-5552 is a mixed improvement over past models. Acer Aspire E5-573G-7034

The Acer Aspire E5-573G-7034 is one of the models of the Acer Aspire E15 series. It features a plastic exterior and faux-linen finishing, but it is certainly a value-for-money device. Although it may look cheap to some, its finishing provides extra grip for portability. Besides, this model certainly does not look its weight of 2.4 kg, with a dimension of only 1.1” thick (2.79 cm) and 10.1” (25.65 cm) in length. This 15.6” laptop comes with a TN LCD panel, which is inferior to the more premium IPS panel, but it provides a decent picture quality at 1080p and good colors for its price point. Despite the lack of crispness in its visual, its screen has a matte coating, which reduces distracting reflections and its viewing angles are also comparably better than similar laptops'. Another notable feature is its keyboard with a numeric keypad. Unfortunately it lacks a backlight, which would have been useful in dim environments. This model is powered an Intel Broadwell i7-5500U dual core processors and hosts an impressive 16 GB of RAM. This improves the performance during multitasking and running multiple applications simultaneously will not be an issue. Instead of a faster SSD, this model provides a hard drive with higher storage capacity of 1 TB. Other specifications include an Intel HD Graphics 5500 adapter, two USB 3.0 ports and an USB 2.0 port.

60% Acer Aspire E 15 Review: One step forward, two steps back
Source: Notebookreview.com English Archive.org version
The rest of the notebook falls short of both more expensive notebooks and even some cheaper laptops. The E 15’s full HD display shows plenty of detail but has limited viewing angles and isn’t all that colorful; the full-size keyboard has a great layout but a lackluster feel and no backlighting; and although the all-plastic construction is solid, it doesn’t impart the classy feel of aluminum found on some competing notebooks in this price range. Perhaps the Aspire’s most glaring deficiency is its abysmal battery life; the notebook ran for less than two and a half hours in our testing, which is only 50 to 60 percent of what we’ve seen in competing notebooks. We might have been able to overlook the other issues and send the Aspire E 15 off with a partial recommendation, but at present, we have a hard time recommending it at all unless battery life is truly immaterial to your purchase decision.

Acer's new Aspire E15 laptop has a lot of things going for it -- it is large but lightweight, the design is attractive despite the plastic shell, and the display is very pleasant to look at. Acer has coupled these positive points with a nice array of hardware, and the end result is something that holds its own in terms of both form and function.

60% Acer Aspire E-15 review: This laptop packs solid performance, but at too high a price
Source: PC World English Archive.org version
Don't get me wrong: The Acer Aspire E-15 is a good machine. It performs better than 80 percent of the pack in this review round-up, it turned in respectable benchmarks, it's solidly constructed, and it has a boatload of storage if that's what you need. But it's playing second fiddle to the Toshiba C55-C in practically every respect. Nothing in particular stands out about the E-15 in comparison to Toshiba's machine, so there's no sense in opting for Acer's laptop—especially since you can generally find the C55-C for less money.

Acer Aspire E5-573G-57HR

The E5-573G-57HR belongs to the E5 series of easy to use and affordable entry-level laptops. It is called a desktop replacement, which is partially true but not quite there yet. The beautiful case gives it a "come pick me up and use me" kind of vibe. The full size keyboard lacks a backlight. The touchpad is big enough to use and can be used to perform gesture controls. With 15 inch Full HD display, the laptop is alright for for movies and games. An Intel Core i5 dual core processor and 8 GB of RAM makes for smooth use. The system performance tests have shown that this laptop has a good score for everyday use, but it is not made for more demanding games. On battery, the laptop can be used for up to 6 hours and it lasts 12 hours in idle mode. This laptop is aimed at price-conscious buyers rather than power-users. Its price is low enough. Thus, the product has a very high price performance ratio.

The Acer Aspire E5-573G-57HR is a top-notch desktop-replacement laptop, with a better display and more powerful gaming and processing capabilities than similarly priced machines. While the system can't run the most demanding games or play the majority of titles on high settings, it's a modest option that still costs at least several hundred dollars less than a specialized gaming laptop.

Acer Aspire E5-573G-56RG

The Acer Aspire E5-573G-56RG is an entry-level computer for everyday use by consumers. The Windows 10 system features an Intel Core i5 dual core processor and 8 GB of RAM for smooth multitasking. In addition, it comes with a 1 TB HDD for all your pictures, videos, games, and documents. With just above 2.27 kg (5 lb), the computer is very handy. The Full-HD display makes for beautiful graphics. Its good graphic card can play almost any game. The design is very skinny and clean. There isn't too much going on and it looks sophisticated. The sound system is crisp and limits sound distortion. Its custom equalizer allows users to change the music type for each situation from movies to gaming. Thanks to a webcam videos telephone is possible via Skype or any other software. The battery life is decent at 5 hours of continuous usage. This means a longer time away from the plug and you can take it with you on-the-go. An HDMI output allows connecting your laptop to a TV or projector for business or pleasure, since you can watch movies or present your business idea. This laptop is suitable for average everyday computer users.

The Acer Aspire E is a hard animal to define given the range of processors, sizes and resolutions available. That makes it a potential catch-all laptop line, with something for the very budget conscious to the more demanding shopper who wants a full HD display, fast Intel Core CPUs and even low end dedicated graphics.

Acer E15 Review: Slow Hard Drive Hobbles Decent Power
Source: Notebooks.com English Archive.org version
The simple answer is no. We can’t recommend the system for three big reasons. It runs slowly on start and during hard drive intensive tasks thanks to the 5400rpm hard drive. It’s got poor battery life when compared to similarly priced computers. Keyboard snobs can find better options with much better touchpads. Gamers who don’t play the latest greatest games might enjoy using it. Entertainment-focused users might find it useful, but we think that some of the two-in-one systems available make for a better option since they are usually more portable and the battery lasts longer.

Acer Aspire E5-573-3732

The Acer Aspire E5-573-3732 is a mid-range laptop, which is neither a budget device nor a high performance type. It provides a faux-metal finish with a lightly brushed pattern that conceals its plastic build. Its dual-core Intel i3-5005U processor clocked at 2.0 GHz is mainly suitable for office and light multimedia purposes. It also provides a decent movie-watching experience with its 15.6 inch HD display, but there is nothing to shout about regarding its audio quality. Users that are always out and about may find its bulky design not convenient for portability with a weight of 2.7 kg and a size of 32 x 382 x 256 mm. It full size number pad might similar to normal desktop keyboard's might appeal to certain users, but it did offset the trackpad to the left and compromise on the size of the keys. An advantage is the battery life of up to 4.5 hours. All in all a basic laptop, the Acer Aspire E5-573-3732 comes with 4 GB of RAM, an internal 1 GB hard drive from Western Digital, VGA, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 port.

The Aspire E5 is fair value for money, but that's pretty much all it is. If you just need a basic workhorse type of machine and can live with the offset trackpad in favour of the number pad there's some value here, but the competitive landscape at this kind of price point is particularly brutal, so it would pay to shop around.

Acer Aspire E5-573-P3YZ

The first thing one notices when handling the Acer Aspire E5-573-P3YZ is the surface texture, which resembles some sort of fabric denim material. It provides a good grip and does not leave any smudges or fingerprint marks, which are highly visible on glossy surfaces. A lot of emphasis has been put on improving the keyboard design. The keys are evenly placed and big and it feels much better than in some mid range notebooks. The touchpad is big and even though it does not come with separate mouse buttons, it captures mouse clicks really well. This model comes with an Intel Pentium 3825U dual core processor rated at 1.9 GHz with 2 MB cache. 4 GB of RAM is pretty decent in view of price point and the hard disk capacity is 1 TB. The 15.6 inch LG LP156WHB-TPA1 display uses WLED backlight. However, its viewing angles are narrow as it uses TN technology. With the 4 cell 2500 mAh battery, the laptop lasts about 4 hours and 45 minutes of continuous internet browsing - just as what is normally expected by a notebook. Notable standard features include a built-in front facing HD webcam, an SD card reader, USB 2.0 (1x), USB 3.0 (2x), and a built in microphone.

Acer Aspire E15 (E5-573) review – with emphasis on the keyboard, touchpad and design
Source: Laptop Media English Archive.org version
Acer Aspire E5-573 doesn’t stretch too far in terms of performance, but you get the bare minimum at this price range, of course. Yet, the notebook managed to surprise us with distinguishable design signature that imitates denim resulting in a strong grip and no smudges and fingerprints. Rarely seen at this price point. However, we were mostly happy with the input devices. The keyboard offers long key travel and comfortable typing experience as for the touchpad – it’s responsive and doesn’t have the annoying wobbling effect. Speaking of which, the same cannot be said about the silicone legs at the bottom. When we placed the notebook on even surface it started wobbling a lot and we suspect that the front-right leg is slightly shorter than it should be. This is a small design flaw that greatly affects user experience, nonetheless.

Source: Gaming Laptops Junky English Archive.org version
The E5-575G is a nice machine for $500-$550, but it has some caveats and Acer has obviously saved on features, display and speakers. The 3D performance of the I5-6200U plus the GT 940MX GDDR5 is not bad for a lower end system, but it will become obsolete in few weeks with the new NV/AMD chips. Moreover, there are even now some models with a lot faster 3D performance, for only a little more, and sometimes there are deals for laptops with GTX 950M (Acer VN7-571) or the radeon M385X (Lenovo Y700). Even Acer’s own new lower end machine, the F5 E5-575G, with the Kaby Lake I5-7200U will probably sell for only $50 more.

Aside from its uncomfortable keyboard and touchpad, the Aspire E5-575G-53VG is an attractive laptop for the price. It looks good, lasts a long time on a charge, and performs well for both productivity and light gaming. Among competing-value notebooks, the HP Notebook 15 offers a more attractive design but less endurance, while the Asus F555UA sports a faster, Core i7 CPU but suffers from a lower-res, 1366 x 768-pixel screen.

Acer Aspire E5-573-346E

The entry level category is rarely updated these days. Manufacturers focus on their tablets/hybrids, mid-range and high-end laptops. Acer Aspire E5-573-346E is an affordable entry level laptop ideal for students or home users. The laptop measures at 29.2 x 381.6 x 256 (1.15 x 15.02 x 10.08 in) and weighs at 2.4 kg (84.66 oz / 5.29 pounds). It is quite a heavy and big laptop, but for a low price, this is acceptable. As for the design, the chassis of this laptop is made of plastic, lacquered in grey and black. The exterior of the laptop is matte and clean. It doesn’t look premium but doesn’t look cheap as well. Featuring an Intel Core i3-5005U dual-core processor and 4GB RAM definitely puts it on top of the entry level category. Its 256GB Solid State Drive storage is also an upgrade to the HDD commonly used in entry level models. The RAM of the laptop is upgradable to a maximum of 16GB by having two 8GB RAM on both RAM slots available on the mainboard.

The Acer Aspire E5-573-346E offers a 15.6 inch 16:9 LED Backlit TFT display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The texture of the screen is matte which does not capture fingerprint and reflect a lot less environmental lighting compared to glossy display. However, due to the TFT display, viewing angles are very bad. It is then only suitable for work and not really good for media playback. The touchpad is placed slightly to the left side of the laptop, more like a gaming laptop. It features a backlit chiclet keyboard with number pad. The keys have good travel distance but the layout is quite classic and the keys are too close to each other. For convenience concerning video calling, it features an HD webcam with 1.3 megapixels. Besides that, it is very convenient to read or write CD/DVD with a DVD +/- RW Double Layer optical drive included. This is something very rare today. Some users might not mind losing a bit of aesthetics for a built-in DVD burner. A brightness sensor is also built into the laptop to detect brightness and adjust screen accordingly. The laptop runs on Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64 Bit.

For networking options, the laptop is built in with LAN Card for Ethernet, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac for WiFi and Bluetooth 4.1. As for input/output ports, it supports a number of classic connection options along with the latest connection options. It includes a USB 2.0 port, two USB 3.0 / 3.1 Gen 1 ports, a VGA port, an HDMI port and a DisplayPort. With many connection options on this laptop, this laptop is open to connect external or larger displays which is an advantage. The laptop is also capable of delivering up to 5 hours of runtime according to Acer. The Aspire E5-573-346E is certainly a good entry-level laptop but for users who seek a little more portability, this might not be something that will suite them.

Acer Aspire E15 E5-575-33BM

Are you looking for your ideal budget-desktop replacement laptop? Acer targets the Aspire E Series laptops at everyday users, who they want to attract with “lots of appealing options and an attractive design” (www.acer.com). Powered by an Core i3 processor of the seventh generation (Kaby Lake), the Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-575-33BM) delivers high performance for its price of about $350. Together with a 15-inch Full HD display and respectable battery life, the computer is more than adequate for everyday tasks and multimedia consumption.

Design and Connectivity

Acer's Aspire E 15 has a dark gray, matte lid with a subtle crosshatch pattern and texture. The deck looks like brushed aluminum. As expected in this price range, the case is actually made of plastic. According to www.laptopmag.com, the notebook seems to have solid build quality. Their tester writes, “It didn't creak or buckle during my use; the keyboard didn't show any signs of flex while typing either”. In terms of size and weight, the Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-575-33BM) is about on par with other budget 15-inch laptops, but it cannot keep up with ultrabooks. According to www.laptopmag.com, the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 is heavier but thinner, while the HP Notebook 15-ba009dx is both thinner and lighter. However, the differences are minimal. The laptop features a USB 2.0 port, two USB 3.0 ports, a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port, a VGA port, an HDMI port, a 3.5 mm audio jack, an SD card reader, Gigabit Ethernet, and even a DVD burner. uk.pcmag.com evaluates, “There's a strong degree of port variety, which is a plus for something inexpensive and intended to be versatile”. www.laptopmag.com summarizes: “Ports: Everything you need plus DVD”. According to www.pcworld.com the selection of ports is relatively generous. pcverge.com even describes the connectivity as excellent.

Input Devices

The keyboard features a dedicated numeric keypad, which is an advantage for number crunchers. www.pcworld.com mentions a backlit keyboard, but for example pcverge.com writes that the chiclet-style keyboard was non-backlit. uk.pcmag.com describes that the keyboard felt OK to type on, although there was some flex in the deck, but the key travel distance and physical response were decent. www.laptopmag.com also think that the typing experience is good, but they say that it was free from any of the shallowness or flex they could find on many budget laptops. www.pcworld.com even describe the keys as a tad squishy, as one would expect from a budget laptop, but otherwise fairly clicky and comfortable. laptopunderbudget.com even believes that the keyboard could be a deal breaker for few, since the numbers on the keyboard can be quite misleading at times, while the reviewer from laptops.reviewed.com writes, “This backlit keyboard was a joy to type on for long periods of time.” www.laptopmag.com thinks that the buttonless touchpad provided reasonably-accurate navigation around the desktop, but its surface felt a little slippery to their reviewer. Moreover, their reviewer describes that the pad seemed to have a little trouble with pinch-to-zoom, as it did not always respond right away when he performed the gesture in the Chrome browser or Windows 10's photo app, while three-finger swiping to switch between apps worked every time. According to uk.pcmag.com the touchpad was responsive, looked nice trimmed in silver and the construction as a whole was sturdy enough. The reviewer from www.pcworld.com points out that he would wish clicking took a bit less effort, but he appreciated how the trackpad reliably ignored unintended palm swipes. laptopunderbudget.com confirms troubles with gestures, “The trackpad also disappointed us quite a couple of times, by not taking the gesture inputs properly.” And mirchitech.com also shares the opinion that the surface felt slightly slippery and their reviewer also describes a small problem with pinch-to-zoom.

Display

An advantage is that the display features Full HD resolution, which is rare in this price class. However, it does not use IPS technology. According to www.laptopmag.com, the display is surprisingly good, since it outputs at a sharp 1080p resolution with tones that are vibrant, though not always accurate and reproduce an impressive 159 percent of the sRGB color gamut. However, they say that the display’s viewing angles were very limited. Moreover, they recommend not to try using this laptop in direct sunlight, since it is not bright enough at 215 cd/m². www.pcworld.com confirms these pros and cons, while laptopunderbudget.com reports, “There is nothing much to really appreciate the screen quality on this laptop.”

Hardware and Performance

The Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-575-33BM) comes with a Core i3-7100U CPU, 4 GB of RAM and a 1 TB 5,400-rpm hard drive. Its performance is just enough for light multitasking. The reviewer from www.laptopmag.com describes: “With 12 tabs open in Chrome and a local 1080p video playing in another window, I experienced minimal lag when switching between the tabs. However, when one of the tabs was streaming a video (in addition to the local video) or downloading a large web page, things slowed down to the point that letters I typed in a Google doc didn't appear until seconds after I hit the keys.” In my opinion, it depends on your expectations whether you will be satisfied with the performance. This is definitely not a gaming notebook, but a laptop for watching videos, browsing the web, word processing, and similar tasks. You might wish for a higher RAM capacity during intensive multitasking. The laptop will certainly perform better than systems with Pentium or Celeron processors, but it can by no way keep up with computers with Core i5 or Core i7 processors and dedicated graphics card. As expected the benchmark results of various on-line magazines confirm this. It appears that the built-in hard drive belongs to the slower ones of its kind. www.laptopmag.com writes, “The E 15's 1TB hard drive copied 4.97GB of mixed-media files at a rate of 36.6 megabytes per second, which is significantly slower than the result for the Inspiron 15 5000 (83.4 MBps) and a bit lower than the HP Notebook 15-ba009dx's showing (40 MBps), both of which have 5,400-rpm hard drives.” They summarize: “You can watch Full-HD movies on Acer's laptop, but don't think about playing anything more than casual games on it.” Moreover, the system is easily upgradeable according to them: “If you want to improve the performance of the E 15 E-575-33BM, you can upgrade its RAM and storage drive easily and inexpensively.” www.pcworld.com confirms that the integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 was more than fine for typical basic activities like movie watching and web browsing. pcverge.com shares the opinion that the system is fine on day-to-day tasks like office document editing, webcam conferencing, and web browsing, but “multimedia editing will be definitely on the lower side of average, but it is still adequate for a general user who won’t be editing photos beyond the occasional color correction and cropping.” Mirchitech.com summarizes, “You can watch Full-HD movies on Acer’s laptop, but do not think about playing anything more than casual games on it”.

Battery Life

www.laptopmag.com praises the laptop for its battery life, which they think is “great for the size”. The laptop lasted 8 hours and 16 minutes in their Laptop Battery Test (continuous surfing over Wi-Fi), which is more that 1 hours and 20 minutes longer than their category average (6:52). uk.pcmag.com confirms that the Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-575-33BM)’s battery life is excellent for the category. It lasted 9 hours and 49 minutes on their rundown test, which is better than most of the main competition. Also www.pcworld.com confirms that this Aspire E 15 delivers respectable battery life, especially given its price, screen size, and resolution. laptopsuggest.com says that the massive 6-cell 2800mAh Li-Ion battery pack will hold a charge for up to 12 hours, but they suggest that it is still not a quintessential travel companion (too big and heavy). According to laptopunderbudget.com the laptop gets fully charged in 0 to 100 in just around 2 hours, which they call great.

Temperature and System Noise

According to www.laptopmag.com the Aspire E 15 stayed cool and comfortable to the touch throughout their use. Their reviewer measured 78 degrees Fahrenheit at the touchpad (25.56 °C), 84 degrees (28.89 °C) at the keyboard and only 85.5 degrees (29.72 °C) at the underside after streaming 15 minutes of video. laptopunderbudget.com mentions that the laptop is able to provide a reliable performance without getting heated much thanks to its seventh generation Intel Core processor. According to them the laptop stayed cool even after 6-8 hours of continuous usage. The eight on-line magazines I have consulted for this press view did not give any information about system noise. In view of the used hardware I assume that the system features an active cooling system. Together with the mechanical hard drive one thing is for sure: This system will not work silently. Furthermore, information about how the system behaves under prolonged high load (stress test) is sadly not available on these web-pages.

Sound

"The speakers leave something to be desired, as they're adequate at best, but certainly not high quality. They can get quite loud, but at full volume the sound is tinny, especially the highs, and there's not much bass”, reports uk.pcmag.com. www.pcworld.com confirms this impression. According to them, the speakers are loud but a bit muddy and the overall sound quality is what you would expect from a $350 laptop: tinny, lacking bass, and not much in the way of clear detail.

Webcam

“Too much noise”, summarizes www.laptopmag.com the quality of the webcam. Their reviewer describe his experience when he took a selfie under the flourescent lights of his office: “Both my facial features and the background behind me were filled to the brim with extra visual noise. Fine details like the hairs in my beard and the lines on my skin were hard to make out”. “As for the 720p webcam that sits just above the screen, it's serviceable for business video chat. Colors look vivid, but the image is distractingly blotchy and noisy”, evaluates www.pcworld.com. According to laptopunderbudget.com, the webcam is quite average. While photos taken in bright indoor conditions were decent enough and the colors seemed fairly accurate, images were fuzzy at times. According to them the camera is fast.

Summary

The web-pages agree that the Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-575-33BM) delivers solid performance, good battery life and strong usability for the money. The display will only satisfy light users. The opinion about the keyboard differs depending on the on-line magazine. Only the web cam appears to be really poor. In view of the available information, the Aspire seems to be a budget laptop with great price performance ratio. “You'd be hard-pressed to find another 15-inch laptop with features and build quality this good selling for anywhere near $350”, summarizes www.laptopmag.com while uk.pcmag.com’s verdict is: “The Aspire E 15 is the very definition of a top-value laptop, offering a useful set of features and good hardware for a low price.”

Hefty though it may be, the Intel Core i3-powered Acer Aspire E 15 delivers solid performance for its ultra-cheap price tag. With its sleek-looking shell, a generous selection of ports, impressive battery life, and comfortable backlit keyboard, the E 15 is well worth its $350 sticker price—particularly because you can easily upgrade it with an SSD and more RAM to squeeze even more performance out of it.

The Aspire E 15 is the very definition of a top-value laptop, offering a useful set of features and good hardware for a low price. It's only $20 more than the Dell Inspiron 15 3000 Series (3558) unit we tested, but performs better, includes a superior display, and has a longer-lasting battery. There are some even cheaper options that involve compromises, like the HP Notebook 15 (ba009dx). But for the best combination of value and feature set, the Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-575-33BM) is our top pick.

The Acer Aspire E5-575G costs Rs. 59,990 and is available in retail stores across the country. If you look at it purely from a specifications standpoint, it’s a good bargain as it’s tough to find anything else that matches it at around this price segment. However, Acer has compromised in other key areas in order to achieve this value proposition, which is plain to see in terms of build quality, design, and the display. If these things matter to you, then you might want to consider other options.

Acer Aspire E15 E5-575-36N6

The Acer Aspire E15 E5-575-36N6 is a laptop that unites ample performance, versatile multimedia features, and an appealing design. With the notebook series, users get productivity and entertainment-designed devices. On the upper and lower side of the notebook, there is an attractive textile structure, which reminds in its haptics of fabrics and is produced with the help of an elaborate 3D printing and laser engraving process. With its 15.6-inch display with Full-HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, the screen delivers decent contrast and brightness. The display is equipped with the Acer Comfyview technology to enable high-quality images to be displayed in the sun. In this case, the matt surface reduces reflections and thus ensures good viewing experience for texts and images even in bright light. Users can enjoy games, pictures, and videos without annoying reflections. The short response time also ensures a smooth display without ghosting and pull-up effects even with fast image sequences. Whether Office applications, entertainment with multimedia or Internet communications, with an Intel Core i3-6157U processor, which provides a basic clock of 2x 2.4 GHz and 8 GB of DDR4 memory, the notebook reliably masters all popular applications. The integrated, high-performance Intel Iris 550 graphics unit relieves the processor of graphics applications and works very power-saving. A fast 256 GB SSD provides enough space for documents, pictures, movies, and music. On the other hand, the built-in SSD allows a quick start of programs and operating system. The laptops of the Aspire E15 series are also equipped with newly designed Chiclet keyboards for extra comfort while typing, a generous layout, slightly concave keys, and improved feedback capabilities. In addition, Acer has equipped the new models with a precision touchpad, which is exactly like a touchscreen capable of recognizing certain gestures and movements, such as pulling or wiping. At the same time, palm-rejection technology distinguishes between intentional and erroneous touchpad touches. With additional media expansions and options, a user gets an even more impressive media experience. Acer TrueHarmony delivers a more realistic and rich sound, while Skype-certified components deliver crystal clear and uninterrupted audio and video transmission with no echoes, gaps, or delays. For stationary use, the low-cost notebook allows the connection of a monitor, a projector or a TV via HDMI or VGA. The Acer notebook reaches the Internet via fast WLAN ac or via Gigabit Ethernet. To create backups or enjoy movies, the notebook has a DVD burner. For connecting external devices like printers, memory sticks or hard drives, there are four USB ports, including one new USB 3.1 port of the first generation and two USB 3.0 jacks. With Bluetooth 4.0, user can easily connect wireless accessories like a headset or speakers to the notebook. SD cards from smartphones or photo cameras can be read and written by the integrated card reader. The Aspire E15 E5-575-36N6 is like many other laptops in the Aspire series, it gives a lot for the asking price. Hands-on article by Jagadisa Rajarathnam

The Acer Aspire E 15 offers most things you want in an inexpensive large laptop, from a high-quality display to a sturdy keyboard to a bit of extra graphics power. There are a few things you'd probably rather avoid, such as bloatware and a flimsy touchpad, but the palatable $599 price makes up for them. And thanks to a DVD burner and a VGA display output, the Aspire E 15 is even better if you take a gradualist approach to replacing yesteryear's technology.

2.1 kg:

2.7 kg:

With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.

72.41%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
