AMD Ryzen 9 4900H no longer lags behind Ryzen 7 4800HS as it bashes out a better Time Spy result in Asus TUF Gaming A15 than in Dell G5 15 Special Edition
We recently reported about a somewhat disappointing Time Spy performance by the AMD Ryzen 9 4900H processor. The 8-core chip managed a CPU score of 8,388 points as part of an unnamed Dell system, which was later revealed to be a Dell G5 15 Special Edition laptop. The lackluster result actually left the Ryzen 9 4900H trailing its fellow Renoir APU, the Ryzen 7 4800HS, which had been recorded scoring 8,734 points.
However, now the AMD Ryzen 9 4900H mobile APU has made another appearance on the Time Spy benchmark and produced a much better CPU Score result: 9,090 points. This is an 8.37% improvement from the previously reported Dell result and also puts the R9 chip appropriately ahead of its R7 counterpart. It seems the Ryzen 9 4900H with RTX 2060 in the Asus TUF Gaming A15 works in a more optimal manner than with the Radeon RX 5600M in the Dell G5 15 SE.
The Asus TUF Gaming A15 FA506IV laptop with AMD Ryzen 9 4900H APU is now available for pre-order with some outlets; the Ryzen 9 4900H variant of the Dell G5 15 SE has still to appear on the Dell online store though. It will be interesting to see what results the latter laptop with the vaunted top-end Renoir APU will be able to produce in comparison with the Asus notebook, once it finally sees the light of day that is.
